It is my great pleasure to welcome you to the National Crop Resources Research Institute (NaCRRI). We are one of the Public Agricultural Research Institutes under the Policy guidance of the National Agricultural Research Organisation (NARO). The headquarters are situated in Namulonge 8 km Off Gayaza-Zirobwe road in Wakiso district. At NaCRRI, we are aware that our clients are drawn from all over the world. We are committed to keeping you fully briefed on what is happening in the area of crop Agriculture research in Uganda, which is the mandate of our Institute.
Research activities in the Institute are carried out under mandated commodity programs and Units. Presently the priority crops according to the mandate are i.e beans, cassava, cerealsie maize and cereals, Sweet potato, coffee Oil palm, Cocoa and Horticultural crops. Coffee, Cocoa and Oil palm research is currently undertaken in Kituza Research Centre in Mukono district. All the programmes have multidisciplinary teams. The institute emphasizes participatory research which involves farmers (and other clients) at all levels of technology generation and development.
